Biography of Calvin Stevens

 

Cal Stevens was born and raised in Inkster, Michigan (a suburb outside of Detroit ) in 1947. He is the sixth child of Emory Lee and Sammie Edna Stevens (both deceased). He attended the Inkster Public Schools, where he served as Senior Class President, Drum Major and percussionists in the Varsity Band.

Calvin earned a B.S. Degree in Business Administration and a minor in Economics from Davenport University. He has studied at numerous universities, including Georgia State University, George Washington University and Fort Valley State University. Calvin completed the USDA Graduate School?s Executive Potential Program and Management Development Seminar; the highly acclaimed Senior Executive Fellows Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Calvin is a featured speaker, motivator, and presenter and is often requested to speak before religious groups, civic and service organizations, and military functions throughout the United States. He travels extensively across the USA per year. His greatest speaking engagement occurred, when he was the keynote speaker at the 50 th Commencement Celebration at his high school alma mater. He is a Competent Toastmaster with Toastmasters International, where he formerly served as President of the Peachtree Summit Toastmasters Club. Calvin authored the book, ?Four Steps in Developing Your A.C.E. (Attitude, Commitment and Enthusiasm).? Calvin retired in 2007 as First Sergeant for the 94 Civil Engineer Squadron, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, GA.

Calvin is an active member of the Flipper Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, Atlanta, GA, where he serves as an Trustee Emeritus, member of the Sons of Allen, and official photographer.

Calvin retired from the U.S. General Services Administration in 2009 as Supervisor Marketing Specialist.

He has three children, two sons and one daughter, all grown and gone! He is the proud grandfather of two grandsons and one granddaughter. This year Calvin and Eleanor will be celebrating over 40 years of marriage. His hobbies included: playing the drums, photography, and coin collecting.Current as of: 8 July 2011
